Folsom Dam Bridge Crossing

The Folsom Lake Crossing was completed in March 2009. The project constructed a new 4 lane roadway that included a bridge over the American River. The roadway was built to mitigate for the closure of the 2 lane roadway that runs along the top of Folsom Dam, which was closed due to security concerns after 9-11. This major  project eases regional traffic flow from Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado counties bypassing the heavily congested roadways in Historic Folsom.

Major improvements included the following:

  • 4 lane roadway
  • Class II Bike Lanes
  • 1,030 foot concrete bridge over the American River
